Women’s Basketball Remain Unbeaten with Win over Essex

Carneys Point, NJ. – The Salem Community College women's basketball team won a hard fought battle against Garden State Athletic Conference opponent Essex County College.  With the victory, the Mighty Oaks remain unbeaten on the season.

Kathryn Laurence led the way for the Mighty Oaks scoring 21 points. Laurence went 5 for 8 from the 3 point line finishing 7 for 12 from the field on the game. Maggie St.Clair had a tremendous all-around game scoring 12 points and hauling in a team high 8 rebounds.  Sydney Hopkins added 16 points on the day to round out Mighty Oaks scoring in double figures.

The game marked the first women's basketball game at the Dupont fieldhouse since the reinstatement of athletics in 2019, which marked the first women's home game in ten years.  With the win, the Mighty Oaks remain unbeaten on the season at 2-0. 

The next game for the women's team will be Tuesday November 21 when the Mighty Oaks will host the County College of Morris with a tip off scheduled for 5:00PM at the DuPont fieldhouse.
