Mighty Oaks Softball Win Two at Ocean CC

Toms River, NJ. – The Salem Community College softball team improved to 12-8 on the season with a dominant sweep of Ocean County College, 24-3 and 14-0

Game One
The Mighty Oaks jumped out early and stayed on the Vikings all day scoring 24 runs on 14 hits.  Karyn Trice went 3 for 4 with five RBI and two walks.   Kyla Buerger added a 3 for 5 game while adding six RBI for the Mighty Oaks.  Vaye Savage went 2 for 4 in the game with two doubles, three runs scored and an RBI. Earning the win for SCC was Caitlyn LaGreca who allowed two earned runs with four strikeouts.

Game Two
The Salem offense continued where it left off in game one scoring in every inning of the second contest.  For the Mighty Oaks, KC Garcia had a solid game two going 2 for 3 with three RBI and two doubles. Kayla Dudley was 3 for 3 in the game with three RBI. Savage continued her strong day at the plate by going 2 for 3 with two runs scored and an RBI in game two.  Morgan Mecham was not only hot at the plate, going 3 for 3 with 2 runs scored and an RBI, but dominated on the mound for Salem going seven shut out innings allowing just one hit and striking out eleven. 

Mighty Oaks softball will be back in action when they will host conference opponent Mercer County Community College Saturday April 22 for a double header.  First pitch of game one will be at 12:00 at the Carneys Point Rec. Park.
