Mighty Oaks Softball Split With RCSJ-Gloucester

Deptford, NJ. - The Salem Community College softball team split the double header with the RCSJ-Gloucester Roadrunners yesterday, 14-0 and 9-3.  The Roadrunners are currently ranked 6th in the NJCAA Division III national polls.  With the split the Mighty Oaks move to 7-7 on the season.

Game One
In game on the Mighty Oaks could not get much going on offense. The Roadrunners pitching was dominate not allowing any hits by the Mighty Oaks.

Game Two
The Mighty Oaks were able to respond to the first game loss in big way topping the Roadrunners 9-3.  The game was back and forth with each team putting up runs in the first inning. Salem scored two runs in the third inning and didn't look back solidifying the win by adding three more runs in the fifth and sixth innings.  Kaya Dudley swung a hot bat for the Mighty Oaks going 4 for 4 with 2 RBI and run a scored.  Adding to the offense were Lanae Ben, who went 3 for 5 with 2 runs scored, and Faith Penn who went 2 for 5 with a run scored.  Haylee Pickrell continued her hot streak by going 4 for 5 with 3 runs scored and 2 RBI.  Rounding out the bats for the Mighty Oaks were Emilie Hamm, who was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI with a run scored and Vaye Savage who went 2 for 5 with an RBI and a run scored.

"We didn't play our best softball in game one and they tested out character", said Mighty Oaks Head Coach Angel Rodriguez.  "We responded well in game two, which was a huge win for the program and I am really proud of them".

The Mighty Oaks will be back on the diamond Friday April 14 when they will host RCSJ-Cumberland. First pitch of the double header is scheduled for 2:00 at the Carneys Point Rec. Park.
