Mighty Oaks Softball Earn Win at Camden

Blackwood, NJ. – The Salem Community College softball team picked up a solid victory after dropping the first game of their double header losing game one 4-3 and winning game two 9-2.

Game 1
Game one saw the Mighty Oaks get out to a 2-0 lead scoring 2 runs in the second inning.  Camden answered back with runs in the both the third and fourth innings.  Salem added a run in the sixth inning to come up just short of the comeback.  The SCC offense was lead by freshman outfielder Karyn Trice who went 2 for 5 in the game with 2 RBI, a double and a run scored.  Emilie Hamm also had a multi-hit day for the Mighty Oaks going 2 for 3 with a run scored and an RBI.  Morgan Mecham took loss but pitched well allowing no earned runs in the game.

Game 2
Game two saw the Mighty Oaks offense take off and dominate the game. Salem got on the board in the first inning with 1 run to set the ton for the rest of the game.  The Mighty Oaks erupted in the fourth and fifth innings scoring 5 in the fourth and adding 3 more runs in the fifth.  Trice continued her hot streak going 4 for 4, scoring 3 runs and adding 2 RBI and another double.  Freshman shortstop Lanae Ben went 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI.  Continuing the offensive surge was Vaye Savage who went 2 for 4 with a run scored and 3 RBI.  Also having multi-hit games were Emilie Hamm and Caitlyn LaGreca.  LaGreca was solid on the mound going all seven innings allowing no earned runs and striking out 5. 

 With the win the Mighty Oaks are now 4-6 on the season.  They are back in action Thursday March 6 when they host RCSJ-Cumberland at home for a double header, first pitch at 3:30PM.
