Salem Welcomes Tom Greenawalt As Men’s Soccer Head Coach

Carneys Point, NJ. – Director of Athletics Dr. Bob Bunnell announced the hiring of Thomas Greenawalt as the next men's head soccer coach of the Salem Community College.

"We're excited to have Tom Greenawalt join our staff as Head Men's Soccer Coach. He brings more than 15 years of college head coaching experience (both men and women), most recently at Penn State Brandywine," Bunnell said.  "His Penn State teams won four consecutive conference titles, as well as the 2021 USCAA National Championship. He has had outstanding success as a recruiter, and we look forward to working with Tom to build our men's soccer program into a perennial championship contender in NJCAA Region 19."

Greenawalt joins the Mighty Oaks after an impressive five-year stint at Penn State Brandywine.  While their coach won the Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) four consecutive years, 2019-23, while making the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) national tournament all four years culminating in the 2021 USCAA national championship. 

Prior to his tenure at PSU, Greenawalt spent seven years at the NCAA Division III level as head women's soccer coach at Albright College in 2002, whle becoming head men's soccer coach for the Lions in 2003, before moving on to Rutgers-Camden, where he was head women's soccer coach from 2004-08. Coach got his start in coaching as a graduate assistant at Washington College in 1999. He also served as an assistant coach at Haverford College in the 2001 season.

Coach possesses a National B Soccer Coaches license and has played professionally for 11 years with the Ocean City Barons, Reading Rage and Lehigh Valley Steamers.
