Mighty Oaks Baseball Sweeps ocean

Toms River, NJ. - The Mighty Oaks baseball team extended their winning streak to three games while winning their sixth in the last seven games Wednesday when they swept a doubleheader at Ocean County College 13-6 and 6-3. With the win Salem moves to 14-20 for the season.

Game 1

JD Wilson pitched a complete game going seven innings in the opener, striking out 10. Freshman catcher Angel Velez was 3-for-4 with four RBIs. Nick Ciesielka went 2 for 3 with a RBI a walk and two runs scored. 

"The boys played hard today," head coach John Holt said. "As a team our approach at the plate was solid and we were able to produce."

Game 2

Ryan Silnik got the start in game two going three and a third innings.  Mike Ochmanski picked up the win for the Mighty Oaks in relief pitching out of a one out jam in the fourth inning.  Sean Kleby followed with two scoreless innings with Aiden Ewe picking up the save with a scoreless seventh inning of work.  At the plate Demetrius DeRamus went 2 for 4 with a double and a RBI.  Catcher Joe Fekete had a two hit game for the Mighty Oaks. 

"We're continuing to take a one-game-at-a-time mentality as a team and the boys are playing for each other. It's great to see," added Coach Holt

The Mighty Oaks will be back in action when the travel to Camden County College for the first game of the away and home three game series with the Cougars Friday April 19.  First pitch Friday is slated for 3:30PM on the Blackwood campus of Camden CC.
