Mighty Oaks Loses Weekend Series to RCSJ-Gloucester

Carneys Point, NJ – The Salem Community College baseball team lost two out of three games in this weekend's Garden State Athletic Conference series to the NJCAA Division 3 number one ranked Rowan College of South Jersey – Gloucester.

Friday night saw the Mighty Oaks drop the first game of the series 10 – 1.  The Salem offense did have seven hits on the night but could not capitalize.  Sean Smith drove in the only run for the Mighty Oaks with Dakota Rowan contributing with two hits on the night.  Sean Cocuzza took the loss for Salem.

The Mighty Oaks picked up a game two win Saturday led by an outstanding pitching performance by Joe Davis.  Davis pitched a complete game shutout allowing just two hits to the NJCAA's top nationally ranked team. Davis struck out four and walked one to remain undefeated on the season, upping his record to 3-0.

In the final game of the series the Mighty Oaks offense could not quite get on track dropping the finally 12-0. Ryan Dipper and Ethan Gill each had one hit on the game.

"Gloucester is one of the best baseball programs in the country," said Head Coach John Holt. "It's still early in our region schedule and I am very confident we will continue to improve and get better."

The Mighty Oaks are back in action Thursday, March 24, when they will host Mercer County Community at the Carneys Point Recreational Park. Frist pitch will be at 3:30.
