The Salem Community College Athletics department is pleased to announce its Fall 2023 Academic All Star Team. The honorees include 36 student athletes representing the four athletic teams at SCC.
Student Athletes must meet a minimum criterion of having a grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale in order to make the team. Honorees are divided up into 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams based their individual grade point averages. The All Stars consist of 7 third team athletes, 6 second teamers and 23 first teamers. There were three students who achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA for the semester.
"The academic performance of nearly half of our student-athlete population this past semester was truly outstanding. Credit goes to the student-athletes, coaches, instructors and advisors who combined for some really remarkable results." said Salem Director of Athletics Dr. Bunnell. "From the time we reinstated intercollegiate athletics for the 2019-20 year, our number one priority has been the academic progress of our student-athletes. We are very proud of these young men and women for exhibiting their commitment to those ideals by their performance last semester."
The students were honored at a reception in the theater Friday February 23.
