Hayes Hits For The Cycle As Softball Sweeps Sussex

Newtown, NJ. – The Salem Community softball team swept Region 19 opponent Sussex County Community College 18-2 in game one and 20-4 in game two.  With victories the Mighty Oaks move to 16-14 on the season. 

Game1

Sophomore All American Ella Hayes led the way hitting for the cycle in game one.  Hayes opened her day with a grand slam in the first inning highlighting a 6 RBI game one.   Callie Rozak went 2 for 2 with an RBI and run scored.  Tessa Wise went 1 for 3 with 2 RBI a double and 2 runs scored. Raegan Wilson went the distance on the mound for Salem picking up the complete game win striking out 4.

Game 2

Game two saw the Mighty Oaks offense erupt for 20 hits. Bella Rappa and Valeria Hatterer both had 4 hits each in the nightcap.  Rappa drove in 4 while Hatterer drove in 3.  Jocelyn Melendez and Tiana Wilson each had 2 doubles for SCC.  Callie Rozak went 2 for 3 and drove in a team high 5 RBI. Tessa Wise went 2 for 3 with a home run and driving in 4 runs for the Mighty Oaks.  Jill Robinson picked up the win in the circle for SCC pitching the complete game ad striking out 3.

The Mighty Oaks have a quick turnaround as they will host Cecil County Community College at Watson field Friday April 18.  First of game one of the double header is slated for 3:30PM.
