Mighty Oaks Softball Keeps On Rolling, Tops LCCC

Schnecksville, PA - The Salem Community College Mighty Oaks softball team continued their winning ways winning their 5th and 6th games in a row when they topped Lehigh Carbon Community College 10-4 and 4-0.  The Mighty Oaks move to 8-4 on the season.

Game 1

The first game saw Salem jump out to an early lead with a big first inning scoring 6 runs in the inning.  SCC added 2 runs in both the 3rd and 5th innings while only allow 4 runs to LCCC in the 4th.  The Mighty Oaks offense erupted for 14 hits in the game led by Karyn Trice who went 3 for 3 with 2 walks, a run scored and a RBI. Also with a solid game was KC Garcia who went 2 for 3 with a double and 3 runs scored.  Sophomore Faith Penn also had a mutli-hit day going 2 for 4 with 3 RBI and a run scored.  Caitlin LaGreca pitched 5 innings allowing 5 hits and 4 runs to pick up the win for SCC. Trice also pitched 2 scoreless innings for the Mighty Oaks allowing just 1 hit.

Game 2

The offense kept on rolling in game two as the Mighty Oaks amassed 15 hits for the game as a team.  Trice continued with her hot day going 3 for 4 with a run scored as Penn also continued to hit going 2 for 4 with a run scored and a RBI.  Adding to the hit parade was Ella Hayes, who went 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and a RBI, while both Haylee Pickrell and Kalila Pace each went 2 for 3 for the game. Sophomore pitcher Morgan Mecham continued to dominate on the mound for SCC pitching 6 innings allowing no runs on just 2 hits. Mecham has allowed just 1 run in her last 3 starts totaling the lone run 16 innngs. 

The Mighty Oaks have a quick turn around as they will host Orange County Community College for a double-header at home Wednesday March 20.  First pitch of game one is scheduled for 3:00PM at Pennsville Little League located on Church Landing Road in Pennsville.
