Pennsville, NJ. - The Salem Community College softball team continued their hot streak sweeping RCSJ-Cumberland Sunday. The Mighty Oaks won game one 7-1 and game two 5-0. Salem is now 6-4 overall on the season.
Game 1
The Mighty Oaks got the scoring started in the third inning plating 2 runs and continued to score every inning after. Freshman infielder Ella Hayes had a strong day at the plate for the Mighty Oaks going 3 for 4 with a run scored and a RBI. Callie Rozak also had a multi-hit day going 2 for 2 with a walk, a run scored and a RBI. Sophomore pitcher Caitlin LaGreca picked up the win for Salem going the distance allowing 1 run on 5 hits.
Game 2
Pitching lead the way for Salem in game two. Sophomore Morgan Mecham was dominate and had a no-hitter for most of the contest only allowing 4 hits total for the game. Mecham threw a complete game striking out an impressive 9 batters and walking none. On the offensive side of the game Courtney Hoggard had a good day going 2 for 3 with a run score and an RBI. Sophomore outfielder Karyn Trice went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored for the Mighty Oaks. Tessa Wise also had a multi-hit day going 2 for 2 with a run scored.
Up next for the Mighty Oaks will be Lehigh Carbon Community College. Salem will travel to LCCC Tuesday March 19 for a double header. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 3:00PM.
