
Pedricktown, NJ. – The Salem Community College men's soccer team suffered their second loss of the season dropping their home opener 5-3 to Bergen Community College.
Jardel Sinclair helped the Mighty Oaks jump out to an early 2-0 lead scoring back to goals, with Brandon Castillo assisting on the second of his goals. Salem took the 2-0 lead into the half.
Bergen came out firing in the second half scoring back-to-back goals within the first seven minutes of the second half tying the score at 2. The Mighty Oaks answered back with a goal from Joao Pedro Gusman putting SCC up 3-2.
That's was all the scoring for the day for Salem as Bergen scored 3 unanswered goals taking the lead and the match, 5—3.
"We came out strong, but let a dangerous Bergen back into the match" said Mighty Oaks Head Coach Matt Murray. "We need to put together 90 minutes".
Salem will be back in action Tuesday when they travel to RCSJ-Gloucester in Region 19 play. Kick off will be at 3:30PM on the Gloucester campus.
