Salem Community College Sweeps Weekend With Wins Over Bryant & Stratton and Penn Highlands
Carneys Point, N.J. - Salem Community College delivered a dominant weekend on the hardwood, earning back-to-back victories over Bryant & Stratton College on Saturday and Pennsylvania Highlands Community College on Sunday. Behind elite guard play, improved rebounding, and strong production from both starters and reserves, the Mighty Oaks continued to build momentum as one of the region's most consistent teams.
SATURDAY: Salem 88, Bryant & Stratton — Balanced Attack Leads the Way
Salem opened the weekend with an 88-point offensive outburst, powered by standout performances from Nasseem Wright and Jarrell Little, while 11 different players contributed to the scoring column. Nasseem Wright had 20 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists while Jarrell Little added 19 points, 5 three-pointers, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals. Wright's efficiency inside and Little's perimeter shooting gave the Oaks an early cushion that they never surrendered. Forward Stefan Phillips delivered a flawless performance with 12 points, 4-for-4 FG, 3-for-3 FT, 4 rebounds. Salem's depth overwhelmed Bryant & Stratton in the second half, securing a confident opening win to the weekend.
SUNDAY: Salem Defeats Penn Highlands — Little and Wright Lead a Gritty Victory
Facing a physical Pennsylvania Highlands squad on the second day of a back-to-back, Salem delivered a tougher, more defensive win thanks to big-time performances from Jarrell Little and Nasseem Wright. Guard Jarrell Little put together one of his strongest outings of the season with 23 points, 7-of-10 from the line, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 1 block. Little attacked off the dribble, lived at the free-throw line, and hit timely mid-range shots to keep Salem in control. In one of the most complete performances of the year, Nasseem Wright recorded a 17-point, 13-rebound double-double with 2 assists, a steal, and a block. His presence on the glass helped Salem weather Penn Highlands' physical interior play. Salem's defensive pressure was a difference-maker, generating turnovers and limiting Penn Highlands' perimeter rhythm.
The back-to-back victories continue to strengthen Salem's early-season resume as they prepare for a challenging stretch of upcoming Region 19 matchups starting when the Mighty Oaks will host Ocean County College at the DuPont Fieldhouse Tuesday November 18 at 5:30PM.
