Men’s Basketball Rally To Defeat Northampton In Overtime,91-83

Carneys Point, NJ. – With just 20 seconds left in regulation Tamir Powel hit the three-point shot to force overtime as the Salem Community College Mighty Oaks men's basketball team fought back to pick up the 91-83 victory over nationally ranked Northampton Community College.

The Mighty Oaks were led by Akeem Taylor who scored 23 points shooting 7 for 18 from the field.  Xavier Brewington added 21 points for Salem in an all-around effort adding a team high 4 steals to go along with 6 rebounds.  Jyheim Spencer dominated in the glass with a career high 19 rebounds. Spencer was a perfect 6 for 6 from the field adding 15 points for Salem.  Tivon Woolford scored in double figures off the bench for the Mighty Oaks dropping 10 points to go along with clutch defense down the stretch.

With the win the Mighty Oaks move to 17-5 on the season.  The Mighty Oaks continue their tough stretch of Region opponents whe they will travel to the Community College of Philadelphia Tuesday January 28. Tip off is scheduled for 6:00PM at CCP.
