Carneys Point, NJ. – The Salem Community College men's basketball team used a dominate second half surge to power past Region 19 opponent Bergen Community College, 97-68. The Mighty Oaks scored 61 points in the second half to roll past the Bulldogs and improve to 8-2 on the season.
Seven Mighty Oaks scored in double figures, with both Xavier Brewington and Rodney Shelton registering a double-double on the game. Brewington led all Mighty Oaks scorers with 17 points with his 10 rebounds while Shelton had a team high in boards with 12 to go along with his 12 points. Ahmodrion Jones added 14 points shooting 5-9 from the field. Joshua Ramos scored 12 for SCC with both Stefan Phillips and Tyrone Tolson scoring 11. Sophomore Tivon Woolford rounded out the Mighty Oaks in double figures for the day adding 10 for Salem.
Up next for the Mighty Oaks will be Ocean County College. Salem will travel to OCC on Tuesday December 10 with a tip off scheduled for 5:00PM.
