Mighty Oaks Rally Falls Short, As Delco Edges SCC

Chester, PA. – The Salem Community College men's basketball team rallied and went down to the wire against Delaware County Community College, but Dante Brinkley's three pointer as time expired was not enough as the Mighty Oaks dropped their season opener.

Salem Freshman Niame Scott had a team high 26 points in his debut with Austin Ruth and Brinkley each adding 11 points for the Mighty Oaks.  Ahmodrion Jones added 8 points and 6 rebounds in a solid season opener.

The Mighty Oaks trailed most of the first half and trailed the Phantoms going into the half 25-37.  Salem came out in the second half firing and tied the game at 44 with a little more than ten minutes left in the game. The final minutes saw each team exchanging leads. The Mighty Oaks came within one as Dante Brinkley landed a three as time ran out.

Salem will be back in action Saturday November 18 when they host Lehigh Carbon Community College in the Mighty Oaks home opener at the DuPont Fieldhouse. Tip off will be at 11:00.
