Haynes GSAC Player of the Week
Carneys Point, NJ. - Salem Community College sophomore forward Myles Haynes has been named the Garden State Athletic Conference player of the week.
Haynes scored a season-high 25 points Saturday in a loss against conference opponent Bergen Community College in which he went 12-16 from the field. The Bergen matchup marked the end of a tough stretch for the Mighty Oaks that saw them play four games in five days, and three in a row. Haynes excelled throughout the four games, scoring 18 against Middlesex College February 7, 21 against Passaic CC February 9, 10 (?) against Sussex CC February 10 and the 25 against Bergen February 11.
"Nobody is more deserving," said Mighty Oaks Head Coach AJ Williams. "Myles put in the work and the results have shown over the past two years."
This is the second time in two seasons that Haynes has won the GSAC Player of the Week. In the last week January of the 2021-2022 season he averaged 22.5 points and 9 rebounds for the week. earning the honor for the first time.
"Myles has been a consistent performer for his two seasons with the Mighty Oaks, and has provided great leadership for this year's young team. We will miss him next year as he goes on to continue his career at the next level", said Director of Athletics Dr. Bob Bunnell.
