Men’s Basketball Drop Home Opener
Carneys Point, NJ. – The Salem Community College men's basketball team suffered a 77-69 loss to nationally ranked Montgomery County Community College in its home opener at the DuPont Fieldhouse.
"Not the outcome we want but I was proud to see some growth from this group", said Head Coach AJ Williams. "The offensive maturity and defensive intensity improved from our first two games".
Sophomore Myles Haynes had a big night for the Mighty Oaks. The forward went 11-14 on the night en route to 24 points in the contest, while adding seven boards on the night. The rest of the scoring for the Mighty Oaks was spread fairly evenly throughout the team as four SCC players scored nine points. Jehiah Eldridge, Dajour McKamey, Kye Rawls and Nate Zoladkiewicz all scored nine for the Mighty Oaks. McKamey lead Salem with eight rebounds.
"They competed and battled with a very talented and well coached team" added Williams. "Looking forward to seeing this team continue to come together".
The Mighty Oaks will be back at home Saturday November 12, when they will face off against Region 19 rival Union County College. The tip off at the DuPont Fieldhouse will be at 12:00 and can be seen on our live stream at HERE.
