Mighty Oaks Top Middlesex 73-70
Carneys Point, NJ. – In an all-around team effort, which saw four Mighty Oaks score in double figures, Salem Community College toped Middlesex College 73-70. With the victory, Salem moves to 15-8 on the season, and continue to secure their position in the Region 19 post season.
"Another complete team effort where everyone who stepped on the court gave us quality contributions," said Mighty Oaks Head Coach AJ Williams. "I'm extremely proud of our guys focus and execution of the game plan down the stretch."
Myles Haynes continued to quietly dominate, registering his fifth double-double in the last six games. Haynes collected 14 boards while adding 17 points on the evening. Leading the way in the offensive department was Eric Neal, who led all scorers with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Paris Hickman added to the scoring, dropping 14 points with 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The Mighty Oaks had a solid night from beyond the arc from both Chris Evans and Logan Cook. Evans shot 40% from three-point land adding 12 points to the night. While Cook added 9 points from beyond the arc coming up just shy of all the Mighty Oaks starters scoring in double figures.
"That was a tough game to pull out and they stayed locked in until the very last second," said Williams.
The Mighty Oaks have secured their place in the Region 19 post-season tournament, but look to continue to make their way up the seedings. Salem will be back in action when they host the Vikings of Ocean County College Saturday February 12. Tip off will be at 1 PM at the DuPont Fieldhouse in Mighty Oak Country.
