Mighty Oaks Baseball Take Series Versus Montgomery

Carneys Point, NJ. – The Salem Community College Mighty Oaks took the Region 19 series against Montgomery County Community winning two out of three games.  The Mighty Oaks move to 12-15 on the season and 8-4 in Region 19.

Game 1

Game one of the series saw the Mighty Oaks offense erupt scoring early and often as the Salem took the opener 20-7.  With three home runs the Mighty Oaks never trialed in the match up.  Chris Kelly hit his first homer of the season going 1 for 4 driving in 4 runs and scoring 2.  Cole Dawson also hit his first home run of the season going 2 for 6 with 2 RBI and 3 runs scored from the lead off spot.  Demetrius DeRamus hit the third home run of the day for Salem going 1 for 6 while driving in 3 and scoring twice.  Jon Gambone went the distance for SCC throwing the complete game striking out 5 for the victory. 

Game 2

The Mighty Oaks dropped game two of the series 9-5.  DeRamus had a multi-hit game foe SCC going 2 for 4 with an RBI.  Angel Velez went 1 for 3 with a double a run scored and an RBI.  Jared Vanderstuer took the loss for SCC going five and two thirds' innings allowing 5 earned runs.

Game 3

In their second straight extra inning game in two weekends, the Mighty Oaks prevailed 4-3 in a tightly contested match up.  Lee Rodriguez came off the bench to hit the game winning single to drive in Yenuelle Rodriguez.  Yenuelle had a solid day at the plate going 1 for 3 with his sixth home run of the season while driving in driving in one run and scoring twice.  On the mound freshman lefty Patrick Seitzinger had a solid outing going 7 innings for Salem allowing 3 earned and striking out 4.  Seth McCormick came in in relief to pick up the win going one inning and striking out all three batters he faced.

Up next for Salem will be Region 19 opponent Middlesex College in a three game weekend series starting Friday April 4.  The Mighty Oaks will travel to Middlesex Friday and host the series finally double header Saturday April 5.  Fridays first pitch is scheduled for 3:30 and Saturday's game one start time is 12:00PM.
