Offense Erupts As The Mighty Oaks Top Mercer

Carneys Point, NJ. - The Salem Community College baseball team got back into the win column in a big way topping Mercer County Community College 17-4.  With the win The Mighty Oaks move to 7-9 on the season. 

The Mighty Oaks offense was strong all day scoring in every inning starting off with 3 in the first inning.  The most damage was done in the third inning that saw Salem plate nine runs. Sophomore lead off man Noel Olavarria had a solid day going 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored and a walk.  Catcher Coty McArthur went 4 for 5 in the game with two doubles and and 5 RBI. Also doing damage at the plate was Nick Toms who continues his stellar season going 3 for 3 with a home run, 4 runs scored and 4 RBI.  Rounding out the SCC offense was Zach Carlton who went 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored and 2 RBI. On the mound sophomore righty Vonzel Rivera was in control all day pitching a solid five innings allowing just one earned rune to go along with three strike outs.

The Mighty Oaks are on the diamond again this Friday March 31.  Salem will be on the road to face off against Garden State Athletic Conference opponent Atlantic Cape Community College. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30PM.
