Baseball Drops Two to Brookdale

Lincroft, NJ. - The Salem Community College baseball dropped a tough conference double header to Brookdale Community College, 8-6 and 15-3. Currently the Jersey Blues are ranked 6th in the NJCAA Division 3 national polls. With the loss the Mighty Oaks drop to 6-9 on the season and 2-4 in GSAC play.

Game 1
Game one was tight a tight battle that saw Salem jump out to an early 5-0 lead.  Brookdale answered back with 4 runs in the 3rd and 2 in the 4th to take the lead. Salem was able to tie the game at 6 in the 5th inning only to give up 2 runs in the 6th to drop to game. For the Mighty Oaks Michael Blackiston went 4 for 5 on the day with a double while Nick Toms continued to hit going 2 for 5 with 2 doubles.  Zach Carlton got on base in all five plate appearances going 1 for 1 with an RBI and 4 walks.

Game 2
Salem could not get much going on the offensive side of the game as Brookdales pitching dominated the second game.  Blackiston continued a solid day going 1 for 2 with a run scored. Toms added another double going 1 for 3. Freshman outfielder Nick Ciesielka went 1 for 3 with a run scored.

The Mighty Oaks will be back in action as they will host Mercer County Community College Tuesday March 28th at the Treehouse located at the Carneys Point Recreational Park. First pitch is at 3:30PM.
