Mighty Oaks Baseball Win in 10

Carneys Point, NJ. - The Salem Community College Mighty Oaks opened their home portion of the 2023 schedule as they have been playing all season against Region 19 opponent Northampton Community College.  The Mighty Oaks had their 5th extra inning game in 10 games this season.  Salem came out on top 5-4, evening their overall record on the season to 5-5.

Sophomore pitcher Sean Broadhurst was solid on the day only allowing four runs through seven innings.  Northampton got out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning tacking on another run in the second inning. The Mighty Oaks answered back tieing the game at four in the bottom of the second.  The score remained tied at four through regulation. Lefty Frank Kopaczewski took over for Broadhurst in the 8th inning to finish out the day allowing no runs and picking up the win. 

On offense, Nick Tom opened the game with a solo home run on the first pitch seen by the Mighty Oaks.  Toms went 3 for 4 on the day adding a double.  Nick Davis went 2 for 5 on the day scoring the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning.  

The Mighty Oaks will travel to Northampton for a doubleheader Saturday March 18 to complete the conference three game series. First pitch will be at noon on the campus of Northampton CC.
