Salem traveled an hour and half north to Lincroft, NJ to take on the Brookdale Community College Jersey Blues in game one of the two game series. The Mighty Oaks went on to fall to the Jersey Blues, 12-8, after allowing 10 uncontested runs through the first four innings.

Brookdale did all the scoring through the first half of the game, taking a 10-0 lead heading in to the top of the fifth inning. Caleb Ritchie (Clarksboro, NJ / Kingsway HS) in the fifth ended the scoring drought for the Mighty Oaks by hitting a three-run home run to score Phil Sedalis (Wenonah, NJ / Deptford Township HS) and Nick Toms (Pennsville, NJ / Pennsville HS) making it a 10-3 ballgame. Brookdale answered back in the bottom of the inning adding two more runs to extend their lead to 12-3 before being blanked for the remainder of the game. Salem took advantage of poor defensive work by the Jersey Blues in the eighth inning to score five more runs to make it a four run game, but it was not enough as Brookdale walks away with the 12-8 win.

Patrick Montagna (Pennsville, NJ / Pennsville Memorial High School) started on the mound for the Mighty Oaks and received the loss, pitching five innings and allowing ten runs on 14 hits.

The Mighty Oaks will next be in action this Friday, April 30, at 3:30 p.m. when they host game two of the series against Brookdale Community College.
