
Carneys Point, NJ. - The NJCAA announced today the Academic All-America teams is which the Salem Community College athletics programs were well represented. For the first time in the history of athletics at SCC, a team earned the distinction of being honored as an Academic All-America Team. The ladies of the Mighty Oaks softball not only made history on the field this Spring, but also earned the honor of being named an Academic All-American Team for their hard work through the entire academic year. The nomination criteria for a team to be nominated is a minimum 3.0 team grade-point average for the current academic year only, for a softball roster with a minimum of nine student athletes. Our fourteen softball student athletes earned a 3.22 GPA as a team to earn the honor.
Also announced were the NJCAA All-America individual awards. Eleven Mighty Oaks earned the honor this academic year.
The criteria for the three All-Academic Teams are as follows:
NJCAA All-Academic First Team - 4.0 GPA
NJCAA All-Academic Second Team - 3.80 - 3.99 GPA
NJCAA All-Academic Third Team - 3.60 - 3.79 GPA
