Partial Scholarships to Women Athletes at SCC

Partial Scholarships to Women Athletes at SCC

2020 will bring more exciting changes for The Mighty Oaks!

Salem Community College will offer partial scholarships to a limited number of women student-athletes for the academic year starting in September 2020.

SCC Mighty Oaks Athletics, which resumed competition this fall after a five-year hiatus, will offer women’s cross country, soccer, basketball and softball in 2020-21.  Women’s teams will compete in Division II of the Garden State Athletic Conference of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).

“The scholarships present a great opportunity to fortify women’s athletics in Salem County,” said SCC President Dr. Michael R. Gorman.

Director of Athletics Dr. Bob Bunnell said scholarships should appeal to women student athletes who choose to stay close to home during the first two years of their college career.  “We hope that by offering some additional financial assistance to potential women student-athletes, we can help to somewhat lessen the financial burden of attending college, and, at the same time, encourage them to come and compete in Mighty Oaks athletics programs."

“We are excited to be able to offer these partial scholarships to select women student-athletes, and look forward to increasing the size of our squads,” Bunnell continued.

In-state and out-of-state female student athletes are eligible for the partial scholarships. To be considered, interested students must start by applying for admission and completing the FAFSA.
