SCC Men's Basketball Preseason Preview

SCC Men's Basketball Preseason Preview

Salem Community College men's basketball is back. Head Coach AJ Williams and Assistant Coach Corey Frizzera will lead the team in their historic return. The men have been hard at work in the DuPont Fieldhouse, and have kept up with some tough competition in their scrimmages against Bucks County and Penn State Brandywine. "I'm really excited about this team. Being our first year, I didn't know what to expect without any returners but we'll compete. They bring good energy and have been working hard. We're ready to get after it," said Coach AJ. The team brings a lot a local talent with 5 players coming from Delaware, and Austin Smith from Penns Grove.

For majority of the roster, this is their first time competing at the collegiate level with the exception of Maurice Freeman and Troy Johnson. Coach Williams says Freeman and Johnson bring "maturity and experience" to the squad. "Our guys have been focused and committed to working hard everyday in practice to prepare ... Now it's time to carry it over and play together as one unit," Coach Corey said regarding the upcoming November 7 game at Valley Forge Military.

Coach AJ notes that defense will be the strong point for this team with seven tough guards on the team. Defense will be a difference maker in the games to come.  The first conference opponents for the SCC Mighty Oaks will be Union County College and Middlesex County College, both of whom appeared in the conference championship game just last year.
