Mighty Oaks Drop the Hard Fought Battle in the Second Half

The SCC Mighty Oaks played their third home game of the season, and another extremely hard fought battle, against the Dukes of RCSJ Cumberland. Robert Whitaker started the game off with a bang, sinking three to put the Mighty Oaks in the lead. At the end of the first half, Salem led Cumberland 38-33. Both Whitaker and Neal led SCC with 9 points each in the first twenty minutes. 

Robert Whitaker started the second half sinking another three to take the Mighty Oaks to a lead of 41-35. Cumberland answered back, tying the 49-49 with 15 minutes remaining in the second half. The game ended in defeat for Salem County 81-77. The Mighty Oaks leading scorers were Lamar Woody and Eric Neal both collecting 18 points. Eric Neal led the team in assists with 10, and Lamar Woody led the team in rebounds with 12. SCC was 65% from the free throw line, and made 42.6% of shots in the field.

Leading scorer for the Dukes was Phil Cisrow with 25 points. Alfonso Smith led Cumberland in rebounds with 20.

The SCC Mighty Oaks will compete again Thursday, December 5th at Atlantic Cape Community College.
