The Salem Community College Mighty Oaks excelled in the classroom in the fall of 2019. The entire group of student-athletes compiled an aggregate grade point average of 3.0. Of all student-athletes, 57% achieved grade point averages of 3.0 or higher, and two student-athletes achieved perfect 4.0 GPAs.
SCC Athletic Director Dr. Bob Bunnell reflected on the academic achievements of the Mighty Oaks student-athletes, stating “when the College decided to bring back intercollegiate athletics to SCC, it was with the understanding that the most important goal was the academic success of the student-athletes. While our student-athletes were doing the work in the classroom, the coaches, faculty, advisors and many others on campus provided the support and guidance to allow this outstanding achievement to occur. Of all the great things that have happened in our first year back in athletics, nothing is more rewarding and encouraging than the academic success of our student-athletes.”
Each student-athlete with a GPA of 3.0 or greater is listed below. Collectively, they are the first group of “Mighty Oaks Athletic Academic All-Stars”, and will be recognized at a reception at a future date.
