Mighty Oaks Softball Offense Erupts

Carneys Point, NJ. - The Mighty Oaks softball team continues to roll winning its eighth game in a row.  The Salem offense erupted for 24 hits in their victories over SUNY Orange, with 6 home runs on the day from Mighty Oaks players.  With the wins Salem moves to an impressive 10-4 on the season.

Game 1

Game one saw the Mighty Oaks jump out to a great start scoring 4 runs in the first inning and not letting all day.  SUNY Orange scored their single run in the third inning. The 10-1 win was highlighted by a stellar day at the plate for sophomore infielder Haylee Pickrell who went 2 for 3 with 4 RBI and 2 home runs.  Ella Hayes continued her strong freshman campaign going 2 for 3 with a double, home run and 3 RBI.  Karyn Trice went 3 for 3 with 3 runs scored for the Mighty Oaks and Faith Penn contributed a 2 for 2 day with a run scored and a RBI.  Caitlin LaGreca threw a complete game for the Mighty Oaks picking up the win allowing a run on 4 hits with 3 strike outs.

 

Game 2

The Mighty Oaks offense continued to roll in their 9-0 win in game two.  Sophomore pitcher Morgan Mecham continued to dominate with another shutout performance for SCC.  Mecham has not allowed in run scored in her last three starts as she struck out 3 and walked none in a brilliant game.  Mecham was supported by yet another strong offensive game for Salem with 13 hits as a team.  Hayes continued her day going 1 for 2 with 3 RBI and another home run.  Catcher Vaye Savage had a monster day at the plate going 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and 3 RBI.  Pickrell also remained strong at the plate going 2 for 3 with a RBI and a run scored.  

Salem will look to host Region 19 opponent Delaware Tech Saturday for a doubleheader with a scheduled 12:00 first pitch of game one.
