Win over Passaic Takes SCC to 3-0 on the Week

The Mighty Oaks hosted their third consecutive home game Saturday afternoon against the Passaic Community College Panthers. The Mighty Oaks took a 10 point lead within the first five minutes of the game going up 12-2. With 10 minutes remaining, Passaic's Silvera made a 3-point shot that brought the Panthers within 3 points of the Mighty Oaks. With 5 minutes left in the first half the score was tied 24 all, before the Mighty Oaks went on a 13 point run pulling into a 37-24 lead. The score at halftime was SCC 41, Passaic 29.

The Mighty Oaks kept their lead for the entirety of the second half, leading by as many as 14 points throughout, only allowing Passaic to come within single digits at the two minute mark.  The Panthers efforts allowed them to outscore SCC in the second half, but left them short of the win. Salem was victorious 77-73, extending their winning streak to three, leaving them undefeated for the week. 

Five Mighty Oaks recorded double digits in the outing. Lamar Woody led the team in scoring with 26, Maurice Freeman contributed 14, Robert Whitaker recorded 12, Eric Neal and Troy Johnson both added 11 to the score. Robert Whitaker recorded a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Troy Johnson recorded an impressive 8 rebounds, and had a perfect field goal percentage going 5-5.

Godly Marc led the Panthers in scoring with 26, followed by Gabe Silvera (25), and Jeter Deleon (12). Ki-hiem Williams led the visitors in rebounds with 12.
