Carneys Point, NJ - The Salem Community College baseball team was able to take one game from RCSJ - Cumberland in a three game Garden State Athletic Conference showdown. Salem moves to 9-15 on the season.
Game One
The Mighty Oaks were able to take the first game of the series 7-4. Salem got off to a quick start scoring four runs in the first inning, lead by a RBI triple from shortstop Zach Carlton. Sean Broadhurst went four and a third to earn the victory for the Mighty Oaks. Noel Olavarria had a strong day in the lead off position going 2 for 2 with an RBI, a walk and a run scored.
Game Two
The second game of the double header was a back a forth game that was tied at six going into the seventh inning. The RCSJ Dukes were able to capitalize of SCC mistakes and put up three runs in both the sixth and seventh innings. Nick Davis had a solid day at the plate going 2 for 4 with 2 RBI and run scored. Michael Blackiston also went 2 for 4 in game for Salem.
Game Three
Game three saw the Mighty Oaks travel to Cumberland for a single nine inning game. The contest was back and forth with each team exchanging runs and the lead throughout the game. Cumberland came out on top in the end 7-5. For the Mighty Oak Nick Toms lead the way going 3 for 3 with 3 runs scored and 3 RBI and a Home Run.
The Mighty Oaks have a quick turn around as they will face Lehigh Carbon Community College in a mid week double header Tuesday April 11. First pitch at Carneys Point Rec. will be at 3:30PM.
