Meet The Mighty Oaks: Emily McGlamery

Meet our Mighty Oak, Emily McGlamery!

She is a Pennsville native, and freshman here at Salem Community College. Emily made her transition to SCC from Pennsville Memorial High School, and represented as our only female cross country runner this fall. After a five year hiatus, she was the first to compete for the Mighty Oaks at the Dukes Invitational, crossing the finish line in historic fashion.

McGlamery says she chose Salem Community College for the available criminal justice major, short commute, and the fact that athletics has returned. Bringing back cross country allowed Emily to extend her athletic career. Her favorite part about cross country, she says, is that no two courses are the same. Every meet brings new challenges, which makes it fun to compete in all different areas. McGlamery's favorite parts of the season were getting to know her teammates, and fun rides home in the SCC van. When she is not competing, Emily enjoys working out at the gym and spending time with her family.

McGlamery continued to compete and improve with every race this fall. At the NJCAA Region XIX Meet, the last meet of the season, Emily ran her personal best time of 32:24.60 placing her 27th.

We look forward having her back in 2020-21 as a sophomore for the Mighty Oaks.
